Lia is a dedicated confiscation lawyer with a strong academic background and extensive experience in various criminal law matters. Graduating with a Bachelor of Laws, First Class Honours, Lia has demonstrated a commitment to excellence throughout her legal career.

Lia gained valuable experience as a solicitor at the Office of Public Prosecutions, Victoria (OPP), where she handled a diverse caseload. Her work encompassed a wide range of cases, including those involving homicide, serious sexual offences, fraud, and drug-related offences. Additionally, Lia gained valuable court room experience by regularly instructing in bail applications, summary jurisdiction applications, plea hearings and trials across various jurisdictions.

Prior to joining Grey Legal, Lia worked as a criminal division lawyer at the Supreme Court of Victoria. In this role, she managed legal cases related to bail applications, post-sentence applications, and reviews under the Crimes (Mental Impairment and Unfitness to be Tried) Act 1997 and Serious Offender Act 2018.

Lia’s expertise in criminal law has provided her with a nuanced and insightful knowledge of criminal compensation, proceeds of crime and asset confiscation. With a deep understanding of the intricacies of the legal system, Lia is committed to maximizing asset retention for her clients.

Lia also has a keen interest in quasi-criminal/civil litigation. Lia can assist clients with common law personal injury claims for compensation under the Wrongs Act 1958 and can provide comprehensive advice regarding civil compensation claims, including those related to assault and battery, wrongful death, and psychological injury.

Dakshu brings enthusiasm and tenacity to her work as a Lawyer at Grey Legal. Dakshu holds a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Commerce with a major in Finance from Deakin University and completed her Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice with Leo Cussen Centre for Law. During her academic journey, Dakshu discovered a strong interest in civil litigation.

While completing her studies, Dakshu gained hands-on experience in finance operations by working as a Finance Assistant to a CFO. Alongside her coursework, Dakshu completed internships at JobWatch Employment Rights Legal Centre and the Deakin University Law Clinic, within the Employment Law practice group.

As her studies neared completion, Dakshu joined Grey Legal as a Legal Assistant, where she gained valuable experience in a wide range of complex and diverse Confiscation and Proceeds of Crime matters. Her dual experience and knowledge in both law and finance equips her to excel in these cases, with a focus on maximising asset retention for her clients.

In addition, Dakshu has a strong interest in defending quasi-criminal civil litigation cases and looks forward to applying her skills in this dynamic area of law.
